The truth and nothing but

Every Friday, Meredith answers your questions -- feel free to post a question of your own for next week!

How's your relationship with Al Roker?
Posted by George on November 8

I adore Al. He’s incredibly kind and funny and after he, Matt and Ann played Millionaire for one of our get-to-know you pieces I discovered he’s really smart. He knows a lot about a lot of things (now if he could only get the weather right--just joking!)

Do you still see your ex-cohorts from The View?
Posted by Audrey on November 6

Yes, in fact I just saw Joy the other day. We try to get together as often as possible, although if it’s much past five o’clock my head’s likely to land in the bowl of pasta.

If I could have anyone's hair in the world it would be yours. Have you ever thought about growing it longer and then donating it to “Locks of Love”?
Posted by Allie on November 3

It’s funny, my whole life I’ve had straight hair and all I wanted was curly hair. In fact, in an effort to get some curl I had a permanent right before I joined CBS news and my hair started falling out in clumps. Needless to say I never did that again. I would love to donate to “Locks of Love” but I don’t believe you can if you treat your hair and mine is highlighted.

Hi, Meredith--
A question from an iVillage staffer (I hope that's not against the rules!)... When you're reporting heartwrenching stories, as you often do, how do you avoid letting them affect you too much, both personally and emotionally? When I was in hard news, I found that incredibly challenging.
Thank you,
Josey

Hi Meredith! Just wondering if you and Ann will be taking any more adventures together. I LOVED seeing you and her bond over the tree climbing expedition last month. Also, will you and Matt be doing any segments like that together? The one of you and Al at the BBQ pit was a hoot too!

This is not really a question, but since I am a guy, I don't watch The View, so I don't really know about you until you joined the Today show. But I do watch the Today show and Late Night with Conan. Well, I just saw you guest on Conan, and I must say you are a VERY COOL WOMAN!!! You were funny and wild! I saw an awesome side of you that I would probably never see on the Today show... Keep up the good work!

Hey Meredith,

Great interview on Conan! The squirrel segment cracked me up. Do you have a thing for Mr. Nuts?

Hi Meredith! Out of all the stories you've heard and covered over the years, which one has affected you the most on a personal level?

Hi Meredith,
Have you given any more thought about being a pediatric therapeutic clown someday?

Meredith, I just had to pop in to say I really enjoyed you on Conan last night. I rarely watch Conan because I can't always take his over the top antics, but I must say that you went toe to toe with him. It was a riot from start to finish.

I know I've listed all the things I love about you in a previous post but I have to mention something else here. I love that you don't take yourself too seriously and I admire your ability to adapt to any situation. This was in full display last night. Gone was that morning persona and out came that bawdy personlity that I grew to love on The View. The ink on the tongue bit and the discussion of Mr. Nuts were definitely the highlights for me. It was hilarious.

It's not like you need another job (or something else to add to your resume), but I've got a suggestion. If ever Conan needs a fill-in, I say you're The One! You've got the personality, wits and smarts to pull it off.

Hi Meredith,

I'm sorry this isn't a question, but I have to tell you that my mom and I just adore you. She was diagnosed with MS 26 yrs ago, right before she got pregnant with me. I've been taking care of her since I was 11, and it didn't start getting truly bad till I was 17. My stepfather also had MS, only way more advanced.

He passed away in a nursing home 2 years ago, and my mother is completely bedbound. I've known no other life beyond taking care of them. I did get to go to college, work, enjoy the Broadway scene, etc., but my life revolves around making sure my mom's ok.

Mom thinks you and your husband are such an inspiration and faithfully watches you on Millionaire and Today. She's still young, only 53, but I know the progressive decline is really hard for her. Still, she is the most positive person you could ever meet.

Thank you for reading this, being so real, and providing MS awareness. Also? You were HILARIOUS on Conan last night! It's wonderful to have you "in our lives" every day.

Hi Meredith, I just wanted to ask if you still keep in touch with former "The View" co-host Debbie Matenopoulos?

Christine C. said:

I absolutely adore you, and I was just curious; you had mentioned somewhere that you used to take up dancing, do you sing as well?

Joseph Paris said:

Meredith - I have loved you since your days on 60 minutes and am SO glad to have you to wake up with every morning (one of my long standing fantasies come true ! - ahem). Anyway - LOVED your turn as a Rockette kicking high - please do more "someone else for a day" pieces.

Mel said:

Meredith-After watching "Millionaire" for years with my wife who loves the show also we finally got to go to a taping last week. We were both blown away by your beauty and charm. If we all looked as good as you when we reach 50 (I'm in my 60s and my wife in her 50s) we would look forward to it. Also seeing you on Conan was a real treat. Its great to see a celebrity as yourself being herself for an enjoyable change. Just to let you know you have made it to the top of my favorite people list.

Joe said:

Meredith,
YOU ROCK!! First of all, you looked great with the Rockettes!! I bet you all had such a good time!
Also, you were hilarious on Conan last Friday night!!! The "Mr. Knutts" story was a riot!!
I agree with Joseph Paris' post about doing more "someone else for a day" segments, such as a pediatric therapeutic clown. That would be so cool!

Hi Meredith, I'm really enjoying your new blog, thanks for letting us peek in your world through this window.

My question is, when your children were younger and you covered news stories did you ever have a hard time explaining the world's events to them? My daughter is 8 and sometimes I see her watching the news--or even a news promo and fight the urge to cover her eyes!

HOW DO YOU KEEP THOSE GORGEOUS LEGS IN SUCH GREAT SHAPE? AND WHY DONT YOU WEAR SHORTER SKIRTS TO SHOW THEM OFF MORE...YOUR A PLEASURE TO WATCH EVERYDAY IN YOUR STOCKINGS AND HEELS! (P.S. THE DARK STOCKINGS LOOK AWESOME ON YOU)..YOU ARE A VERY CLASSY WOMAN ,YOU WERE ON THE VIEW AND STILL ARE...KEEP US SMILING AND STARING....

I have really enjoyed Meredith's appearance on the Today show. She is a very confident person and adds much charm to the telecast. I would like to see TAVARES (from RI and just entered the Cape Verdean Hall of Fame this weekend) perform out on the plaza one day. Being from Prov I also grew up with them along with Jeffery Osborn.

Hello meridith you do very well as a dancer and have the legs for it to might I add.I hope I'm not embarrasing you with all this good luck or is that break a leg as they say in broadway lingo please don't really bnreak a leg we would miss you every morning while you healed.

jennifer said:

Is there something wrong with your leg? I have noticed over the months of you being on the Today Show that it looks as if you limp some? Just curious.
Thanks.

Hi Meredith, We wake up each and every morning to the Today Show. I share your age and remember many moons ago when you did a segment on "Kid News."
Of course we miss Katie Couric, you filled her shoes with grace and professionalism. We can't think of a nicer way to start our "Today."
