Steve, Who?

We had on Steve Carrell today who is the voice of the mayor of ‘Whoville’ in the new animated film Horton Hears A Who based on the Dr. Seuss book. (click here for the article)

The story has a wonderful message—‘a person is a person no matter how small’. Each one of us is important and we all leave our footprint.

Having met Steve several times now, I think it is so appropriate that he would play the mayor, who is the ‘small’ voice in the film trying to be heard because Steve has such a vulnerable quality. As one of the directors of the movie said about him “You like to watch Steve’s characters struggle. He rubs the right amount of ‘Steve’ on every line of dialogue.”

It’s such a lovely thing to say—that someone leaves a bit of their soul on everything that they touch. It almost sounds like a line that Dr. Seuss would’ve written, and certainly a message to live by.

Hi Merideth, the comment,"a person is a person no matter how small" really struck home with me today. I myself have a 13 yr old daughter who just happens to have Down Syndrome. I would never believe I would have done what I have done because of her, or met the beautiful people I have met because of her. Now, because of her and others like her, my husband and seven other amazing men are going to join the Race Across America and cross 3,106 miles to raise awareness and funds for special needs kids in the private school sector. I would invite you to view our website:

Steve Carrell is awesome... I was dragged along to "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" when it came out several years ago, expecting it to be downright unbearable. It's certainly not my favorite movie, but Steve was a definite upside to it. My friends and I are already planning on going to Horton Hears a Who when it comes out (despite the fact that we probably aren't in the targeted age group).

You rub a little "Meredith" on a lot of your interviews and news reports but you could do more. Perhaps you've been too conditioned in your previous traditional, unemotional, reporting jobs.

"Leave a little bit of soul on everything we touch" sounds like a good goal, but have you ever had colleagues who are so intent on leaving their mark that they monopolize the opportunities and make it difficult for anyone else to do the same?

Hey Meredith

I find it absolutely intriguing how during this big political season you Today journalist are capable of showing no political affiliation when reporting or discussing politics. You were great at this on the view also, mentioning people from all parties. Hats off. How do you do it ?

Good morning Meredith,

I just have to say from what little I got to see of the show this morning...you look very nice in glasses!!!

To Jessica: Sounds like you have a case of BULLYING. Accept and Appreciate everybody and do nothing from selfish ambition and refuse to join in, but in humility consider others better than yourself. Meredith, thank you

Meredith,
I thought I would share my Motto To Live By
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body,
but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, latte in the other, body throughly used up, totally worn out
and all the while screaming "WOO HOO, what a ride"

Have a great day

Hey Meredith!
I love you and the show.
I know this may sound really juvenile and somewhat cruel BUT PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't let Kathi Lee Gifford get on the show in its 4th hour! She is a virus that will only infiltrate the wonderful chemistry of everyone else on the show. Ann and Natalie are so real and honest and KLG is ALL ABOUT HER EGO.
She is a narcissist to the nth degree. Please! She had her time and all we want is for her to go away and stay there. Shouldn't she be with her precious kids? What about that marriage?
PLEASE let the powers that be know that the Today show audience DOES NOT WANT HER TO BE A PART OF OUR FANASTIC FAMILY.
Thank you for listening to my rant.
But I do not apologize for it.

I will make sure to see this movie when it comes out. It looks awesome. I love the phrase, everyone is important no matter how small. If only everyone in the world treated each other that way.

Hi Meredith! I watch you and Matt everyday and love you guys together. I have an important question. My son is getting married soon and I need a perfect lipstick to go with my dress. I love the lipstick that you are wearing today March 11,2008. Can you tell what kind and color it is? Thanks, Jami Palmatier

Kathie Lee Gifford is a talented individual who works hard for charity. She is held in high regard by many and would be a great addition to The Today Show.

I cannot believe "Dr. Laura" commented on your personal life! What audacity! That falls in the category of "Dr. Phil" talking about Britney Spears. It did nothing to further the segment. I apologize for such a rude guest!

I NEVER want to see Kathie Lee Gifford on tv again. I won't watch your show if she's on. She's had her day. Enough of her.

We seem to believe this, unless that small person is still in the womb.

I find it very hard to stay on track with the subjects on the 4th hour of the Today Show....Kathie Lee is just too hard to reign in.....I feel bad for Koda....please replace her with someone a little more "newsy" instead of "showy".
