What in the world...
I haven’t blogged since I showed you my Zoobie (aka, the monkey on my back). Who knew my fuzzy friend would elicit such a response.

It’s been a crazy week back at this zoo. I must say that without Matt here (the other monkey on my back), it’s a little lonely for the rest of us. But we are loving "Where In The World Is Matt Lauer" —he always does a terrific job, along with all the producers, reporters and crew members who take the journey with him.
I didn’t realize how much I had invested in guessing correctly every one of Matt’s locations until last night, when I came home late from Indiana and my interview with the Obamas.
Richard was waiting up for me in the kitchen and instead of spending some time with him, I sort of gave him the brush off and rushed upstairs to get on the computer - determined to work on that "clue" Matt had given us. After all, I had successfully guessed Buenos Aires, Amsterdam, and Laos…there was no stopping me now.
I stared into the glow of the computer screen, scrutinizing every word in the clue for today’s location:
Turns out I got plenty o’ nothin'. Al was the one who burst my bubble at 5:30 this morning when he walked into my dressing room and said, “Did you figure it out?” I’d barely gotten the words "New Zeal—" out of my mouth, when Al cut me off.
“It’s Istanbul,” he declared, and proceeded to explain why. I knew he was right, and my "winning streak" was officially over. I had learned a valuable lesson in humility…and I’ll be putting that lesson to practice, starting next week. But for now, I’ve decided:
"Heck, four out of five wouldn’t be bad…"—which is where you, my loyal (and may I add, very smart) blog friends come in.
I’m stumped on the clue for tomorrow’s location:
Any ideas?

So the prime rate you guessed, the red lights you saw through. The anagram even proved easy to chew. In this place you can rock and there's one heck of a mall. With a turn of the head, different continents call.I figured Matt would continue heading towards the U.S. from Laos, and decided he probably was going to New Zealand, because I know he’s never been there before. So I Googled "New Zealand, rock, mall" and up pops a website called "Mall New Zealand" and a reference to all the rock music you can buy. Of course I thought I’d hit the jackpot! I triumphantly logged off the computer and emerged with a smirk on my face, proudly announcing to Richard, “I got it!”

“Many come here to see the natural wonders, but the national symbol is for your eyes only.”
Any ideas?

Mere,
I posted this on your previous blog entry but will repeat here:
On Friday I think Matt will be in Nepal. Their national symbol are the two eyes of Swoyambhunath which represent peace and prosperity. And of course, it has many natural wonders.
Bob
I think he is going to the Galapagos Islands...it's one of the seven wonders of the world. It's symbol is the tortoise of which you cannot touch only see "for your eyes only". But, of course, this may be the easy answer....
I would guess "Scotland" because Sheena Easton, a Scot, sang "For Your Eyes Only" and the national Symbol would be the Loch Ness monster.
Poor Richard.
My guess is Uganda
guyana?
I think that Matt is going to Egypt.
I thought the "For Your Eyes Only" had something to do with James Bond. But I don't think the geography works in my favor.
I'm loving the series, and I think they are done really well. Matt does a great job -- and I SO WANT those tango shoes! Adorable!
this one's got me stumped too! You're doing better than me at the moment though Meredith. I'm 2/4 (Laos and Istanbul). Good luck!! P.S. Your reaction when you'd figured out the the clue for Loas, while Matt was still in Amsterdam, was priceless!
My guess would be Corfu, Greece. The movie "For Your Eyes Only" was mostly filmed in Greece, specifically Corfu which is near the Ionian Sea. Greece also has many natural wonders.
Do you ever get jealous that he gets to do all of the travelling? I would. I would like to just got to the mall without kids for the day!
What about Greece? One of the James Bond movies- "For Your Eye Only"- took place in Greece and was filmed mostly there. Not sure if he's been there before but the photo clue looks like it could be it too. Kind of far-fetched but... :)
A lot of great suggestions here! But hasn't Matt already been to Greece and Egypt. Wouldn't they want to go somewhere completely different. As for me, like Meredith I'm stumped with this one!
Hey Meredith! I was rooting for you this morning, knowing that you were 3/3 already! Good try today, though! I love watching all of you guess Matt's destination. I'm a little stumped on his clue today as well. Here's my best guess... Has he ever been to Victoria Falls? It's considered by some to be one of the natural wonders of the world, and then I read this about it:
"The Victoria Falls are one of the world's most spectacular waterfalls. The falls are situated on the Zambezi River, on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe..and are roughly 1.7 km (1 mile) wide and 128 m (420 ft) high. They are considered a remarkable spectacle because of the peculiar narrow slot-like chasm into which the water falls, so one can view the falls face-on."
I was thinking the end (about viewing the falls face-on) could be the "for your eyes only" part. I don't know - that's a tough one! Good luck!!
Tracey :)
It's great that the monkey is thinking with you. (per the photo)
I agree with Nicole...Guyana.
Corfu, Greece. I spent a holiday on the beach where they filmed Bond's car driving out of the ocean in "For Your Eyes Only".
Meredith. wow. did not know you had a blog. well, my name is laura. and I think he is either going to Napal or Greece.. my brother went to Napal. btw everyone... I AM GRADUATING FROM COLLEGE NEXT WEEK!!! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
INDIA!
"Many come here to see the natural wonders..."
-The Taj Mahal is def. one of the 7 natural wonders of the world.
"...but the national symbol is for your eyes only."
-The peacock is the national bird of INDIA. The feathers are tipped with an iridescent eyespot.
Namaste!
Hello -I believe that Matt may be going to Mexico tomorrow. One of the natural wonders of the world is there and I read that the unofficial national symbol of the country is Our Lady of Guadalupe (The Virgin Mary), hence the word play "for your eyes only".
That was not even a clue. No one could have guessed the location.
Hi Meredith,
I wouldn't have ever guessed that one right so I didn't even try but you did great for all the other locations.
I envy Matt so much being on that beautiful island in the hot sun and the water, he looked like he was getting a good tan and so did Amy in fact she looked a bit burned.
Would you ever want to go on a tour like Matt did? I know I would never survive the long flight. Sounds like Matt is going to enjoy his last day, he deserves it.
Love ya Meredith

Aw, Meredith. I saw the show this morning and you went with Galapagos Islands because of the blog responses you had. Thank you! I could tell by the tone of your voice that you didn't have much faith in that guess and I don't blame you, but to mention your blog was a nice spin on a tenative guess.
3 out of 5 guesses ain't so bad... plus points for you there...
OT: now i really want that monkey!
I think Matt is going to the Seychelles..??
Has anyone ever thought of making a "Where in the World is Matt Lauer" book? It could include bright colored pictures and short summaries of each country and/or stop along the way?
The money raised with the book may be donated to his or NBC's favorite charity or cause. I would certainly enjoy having a book like that since I do see you all every morning, as well as, my daughter does. She's been watching Matt in the World since she was 3 and now is 10 years old.
We really enjoy the show, especially Matt, you, Meredith, Ann and Al.
