Rat-a-tat...tat's all folks….
It's 3:15 in the afternoon, and I am waiting for the rundown meeting to end. Every day around this time the producers gather in Executive Producer Jim Bell's office to map out the next morning's broadcast. I already have some idea of what I'll be doing, although we all know news can change on a dime.
As it stands now, I am leaving the show before 8:30 a.m. tomorrow because I have to go learn how to fire a submachine gun. No, I am not kidding, and when you eventually see the piece you'll understand why. Given the fact I have trouble walking and chewing gum at the same time, someone very powerful has a lot of faith in me. But, that's enough of a tease.
Stay tuned, as they say. Or better yet, try to figure out what I am up to... besides no good, that is.

I hope wherever you're shooting that sub-machine gun is no place near me! :)
Dear Meredith,
I want to be an intern at The Today Show someday. How many slots are available and how hard is it to get one of them?
Thanks!
Casey
Look out, folks!!
Meredith's packin' heat!!!!!!!!!!
YIKES!!!!!!!!!
And you thought "Deadeye" Dick Cheney was scary!!!! :)
Joe
P.S. whatever you all do..........DUCK!!!!!!! :)
All kidding aside, Meredith, when are they going to air this segment of you firing a sub-machine gun?!? I GOTTA see that!!!!! :)
Joe
Hmmm....July 4 segment on the military? Or maybe they just don't like you? I'm going to go with the former.
Hopefully the shooting range you go to doesn't make you fire at little people in Chinese hats. The one in Utah (Camp Williams) does -- it's totally from WWII era, and I think they should change it!
3:15? !!! You get there at like 5:30 or something and are still there at 3:15? What in the world do you do from 9 to 3 p.m.? Why do they have the rundown meeting so late? There's no reason for you to be there that long. I figured you were out the door and in to your waiting car by 10:30 or 11. That's crazy! Does everyone else stay that long too?
P.S. Love watching you on Today. I think you and Matt have great chemistry and I love how you are not stuck on trying to protect some "image".
I can't imagine what you're up to, but it will no doubt be interesting and possibly amusing to see.
I hope the submachine gun piece doesn't include the expert help of Will Ferrell.
That should be an interesting piece.
One of the other bloggers commented on the great chemistry between you and Matt. I certainly agree and also want to include the rest of the "cast."
How is Lily doing with her case of mono?
WOW...WOW... AND WOW
Didn't you look fantastic today 7/02/08 in your white short skirt and black & white polka dot blouse......nice touch classy lady topping it off with expensive black peep toes and the nude pantyhose.... You are truly one of a kind !

Please tell Matt that Wise Potato Chips are only available on the East Coast. I used to live on that coast and had forgotten all about them. When I Googled it says they are only available on the East Coast. Sometimes here on the west coast they might have the same item, but called something different. Haven't found anything like that yet.
Hi Ms Meredith, this is may not be the proper forum to talk about this, but I was just wondering why you have called Angelina Jolie a movie starlet while you were reading the news about her supposed hospitalization. Doesnt everyone know that Angelina is not a small star, which is what starlet means, but she is in fact presently Hollywood's biggest movie actress? I know you were just reading the news from the teleprompter, but wouldnt you and Matt Lauer be able to at least correct it while you were reading the news? I think the writer of your show should know better. The fact that you are covering the birth of her babies should already suggest that she is not just a starlet but is such a huge star.
Thanks and good day!
meredith,i felt so sorry for you having to do that interview with the teenagers who lost their mom.My husband is a journalist and he hates doing stories like this. The reason I love you and so many others do is the apparent empathy and concern you had for those children.I have a son around the same age as the young man who could barely utter a word.Watching that was heartbreaking.I know you must have wanted to cry the entire time. You did a wonderful job in a difficult situation, but i was wondering how you feel about such interviews.Do you find them exploitive or intrusive---wrt the children especially?
Hi Meredith,
I am looking forward to see you shoot that machine gun, holy smokes. I can't imagine why they would hand you one of those but it has to be good. Can't wait.

ann m, another know it all, maybe you should take over for Meredith since you are so well versed on what to call some star. People like you drive me nuts and don't think by letting Meredith know that she called this person a starlet and she is a so called BIG star, that you are smart, you are not, you are an idiot.
Working with or for (ha ha) your wife? This has been a great way of life on many of America's farms and ranches. Family and work time are all in a day spent together. Best days of my life and many others too. Keep up your interesting work.
hey sweetheat i hear you might going to cbs evening news next year i absolultly insist that you go. alot of people who want to see you on today can't get up early enough especially on the west coast.
ps i hope millioniare auditions are comeing to chicago this year.
Let me guess.... you're doing a liberal anti-gun segment by showing how easy it is to fire a fully automatic machine gun and kill scores of innocent victims?!
I expect a fully one-sided, unrealistic story here.... which will no doubt include the false impression that anybody can get a fully automatic weapon for the purpose of running amok on a killing spree.
How about telling people how very rare it is for these type weapons to be used in crime in this nation?
Please tell me I'm wrong...and you're doing a piece on your being a gun proponent. LOL....riiiiggghhht!
